Thief is a great series of games with rather long history and lots of fans. Its new instalment has promised to be a big and ambitious reboot that should put new life into the series. In our Thief review, we would like to find out whether the developers have succeeded in this difficult mission or not.
Let's start with a short lyrical digression. There are some games that are not very popular and anticipated. But many of them, after the release, turn to be really cool. From the other side, there are projects that are extremely ambitious and famous, so during the months and even years before their launch, fans are waiting for them and hoping that they will be incredibly good. And the more desperately the gamers anticipate the upcoming project, the stronger their disappointment may be. Thief seems to be the latter type of games - the one that hasn't justified hopes.
What have we expected from the reboot of Thief? We wanted to get an intensive game about the Master who can steal anything, and we thought that almost the whole plot will be devoted to the theft. What have we really got? A mediocre project about very tangled mysteries that are not interesting at all. The plot tells us about something exalted, but extremely boring. Even if you like solving puzzles and believe in conspiracy, Thief game won't bring you the experience you are looking for. And if you, just like us, wanted to get a story about brilliant thief, then the released project is absolutely not your cup of tea.
Moreover, the characters of Thief game are very flat, and the dialogues are completely terrible. Garrett is not emotional, and so the whole story is farcical. However, the side missions are much more interesting. Here you will be stealing a lot, solving puzzles and trying not to get caught by the guardians. But our Master Thief is not actually a master. He looks like a pickpocket, who takes everything he sees on his way, including cups, spoons and knickknacks.
One of the biggest advantages of the game, which we have to mention in our Thief review, is a stealth. Well, this game is perfect for those, who like this genre. Absolutely all missions and side quests may be passed staying unnoticed. But it is not easy, and you will have to think a lot. To avoid guardians and enemies, you can use different types of weapon and upgrades. Among them there are various arrows - fire, water and rope ones. You may use these special items to distract the opponents, but here we have one annoying problem. It seems that the developers have created the scenarios, in which we can use the certain type of arrows, while in other situations the upgrades are useless. So, we don't get the real freedom of choices, as it was promised by the developers.
The same thing is with the game's map. The City is big, various, dark, but extremely tangled. It will be very hard to get from point A to point B, and you won't enjoy the travelling. Although the Thief's world is beautiful, it is too hard to move around.
And of course, in our Thief review, we need to tell you about the game's graphics. Here, we don't have any complaints. The world is gloomy, eerie and absolutely amazing. Also, the sounds and music are on the highest level, and these components make the game dynamic and good-looking.

Our Thief review is coming to its end, and it is time to draw a conclusion. In our opinion, the developers have spent too much time on the visual and sound effects, and have forgotten that the great game starts not from the graphics, but from the exciting plot. And talking about Thief - unique and special game series, - it is absolutely inexcusable to turn this fantastic idea to the mediocre game.
