At the official developers blog, some new Assassin’s Creed Rogue details have been published. Susan Patrick - one of the project’s writers - has shared the new information about the plot of the upcoming action-adventure.
According to Susan, the Assassin’s Creed Rogue game is the most unique one in the whole story of the franchise. In all previous parts of the series, the assassins were the honorable heroes, but this time, the players will see the world through the eyes of the templars who have been positioned as the mean villains until now.
Susan has also told about the project’s main character - Shay Patrick Cormac. Earlier, we already shared a little information about him. “He’s brash and arrogant, but has a conscience. Born to Irish immigrants in New York, Shay finds himself searching for purpose after his father passes away. It is at this point that the Assassins find him and take him in. Despite becoming a successful Assassin, Shay will start to question the motivations of the Brotherhood and eventually, seek redemption by hunting the Assassins down”, - the writer has said.
Moreover, the hero's last name - Cormac - means “raven” in Gaelic. And the title, which Shay has given to his ship, - “Morrigan” - is the name of an Irish war goddess who appeared in front of the soldiers as a crow.
Besides that, the Assassin’s Creed Rogue game tells the story, which unfolds during the Seven Years’ War (1750 - 1760). Susan has said that the project’s creators have chosen such a period, because this war was the first global conflict in the new history. In addition to it, this time is perfect for the tale about the Kenway family.
And finally, Susan has shared some information about the relations between the main character and Haythem Kenway: “When Shay meets Haytham, he is looking for a role model. And Haytham, in many ways, is the Templar’s Templar. So Shay sees Haytham as someone he can learn a lot from. At the same time, Haytham sees Shay as someone he could learn some things from too. It makes for an interesting dynamic.”
