In the recent interview, the screenwriter Simon Kinberg has revealed some new details about the X-Men: Apocalypse movie, the world premiere of which will take place in May 2016. Let us remind you that the forthcoming action will be a sequel of the Days of Future Past blockbuster and the eighth instalment in the film series.
The screenwriter has noted that the X-Men: Apocalypse movie will become “the completion of an arc” for the characters from the First Class instalment. However, it doesn’t mean that the series fans won’t see their favorite characters anymore. Probably, these heroes will get the episodic roles in the next films.
As for the future motion picture, besides the complicated friendship between Professor X and Magneto, the X-Men: Apocalypse movie will focus on the love affair of Raven Darkholme (Mystique) and Henry McCoy (Beast). "The relationship between Beast and Mystique is a really interesting one that we didn’t have a lot of time to explore in Days of Future Past, so we’ll have an opportunity to do more of that in Apocalypse”, - Kinberg has said. “Part of what’s really interesting about Mystique’s character is that she is, in some ways, the child of both Erik and Charles. She grew up with Charles and then she sort of became a woman with Erik, so her being the cross-pollination, if you will, of those two philosophies and those two men is something we can explore in the movie too", - he has added.
Also, it’s already known that the upcoming action will be set in 80s. This is how Simon has commented on such information: "We’re having a lot of fun with the idea of the 80s. It’s a decade that Bryan and I both grew up in and so the music, the style, the aesthetic, the legacy of 80s movies is something we’re really having fun with”.
The shooting of the X-Men: Apocalypse movie will start in spring 2015 in Montreal.
